Obama Scores FEC Victory
The FEC greenlighted the Obama campaign's understated smear tactics, «...rhetorical club to wield over both his Democratic competitors...and potentially the Republican nominee» on March 1, but the victory for «clean politics» could be pyrrhic.
That may not entirely inoculate him against criticism for declining public financing, said University of Virginia political science professor Larry Sabato. â€ūWhen you present yourself as a ‘clean’ candidate, you are often held to a higher standard, whether that is fair or unfair,â€? Sabato said. â€ūMedia and observers outside the arena may insist that Obama follow through on public financing in the general election, even if his opponent isn’t doing so.â€?
So much for tactical maneuvers!
