Another Dissenter Silenced
There's an odd similarity between the assassinations of Benazir Bhutto in Pakistan and Thyagaraja Maheswaran in Sri Lanka: opposition politicians criticizing the ruling government, leading in turn to accusations by the opposition that the government failed to provide adequate security.
In Maheswaran's case, the security risk is a quarter-century old civil war between minority Tamils and majority Sinhalese. Yet, there's no global outcry, or American involvement expected.
