Bali Bombers Hold Out for Beheading

Yes, that's right! The three Jemaah Islamiya militants convicted of the 2002 Bali bombings in Indonesia want to be beheaded, not executed by firing squad (via The Jurist's «Indonesia to suspend execution of Bali bombers during Ramadan».

The bombers' lawyers said Wednesday they had written to the attorney-general requesting a stay of execution pending a separate appeal to the Constitutional Court over the legality of using the firing squad for the execution.

The militants' laywers have said the bombers want to be beheaded.

As a result, and allowing for the observance of Ramadan in September, it's uncertain when the Bali Three will be executed.

Should criminals, who didn't give their victims a choice, be allowed to choose their manner of death?
